Bacillus coagulans: what it is
Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming microorganism. In spore form it keeps at room temperature, so Gut Health Plus needs no refrigeration: store it below 25°C in a cool, dry place with the lid tight. MTCC 5856 is the strain designation, and CFU (colony forming units) is how the count is given.
How to take Gut Health Plus
Start with half a teaspoon (3 g) a day and increase gradually to 1 to 2 teaspoons (3 to 6 g) in water, a smoothie or food. The 1 billion CFU figure is for the full 6 g serve; 3 g gives half that.
Gut Health Plus or plain PHGG?
Both give about 5 g of fibre a serve. Gut Health Plus adds Bacillus coagulans; plain PHGG is the single ingredient and costs less per gram of fibre.
