Reading a digestive health supplement label: 5 checks
1. Food or medicine
Look for an AUST L number. No number means it is sold as a food.
2. Grams per serve
The nutrition panel gives dietary fibre per serve. Compare that, not the size of the tub.
3. CFU per serve, if it lists a live culture
The count should be given per serve, and it should be the serve you will actually take. Gut Health Plus reaches 1 billion CFU at the full 6 g serve; the 3 g starting serve gives half that.
4. The full ingredient list
Blends should list every ingredient. Ours do, flavours included.
5. Cost per serve
Price divided by serves. Our figures are below.
| Product | Serve | Fibre per serve | Cost per serve | Cost per 10 g fibre |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gut Health Plus | 6 g | about 5 g | $1.25 to $1.57 | $2.50 to $3.15 |
| Gut Health Powder | 8 g | 4.1 g | $1.29 to $1.83 | $3.15 to $4.47 |
| PHGG | 6 g | about 5 g | $0.93 to $1.32 | $1.86 to $2.64 |
| Organic Inulin | 5 g | 4.5 g | $0.44 to $0.68 | $0.98 to $1.51 |
| Psyllium Husk | 4 g | 3.5 g | $0.19 to $0.24 | $0.55 to $0.68 |
Fibre from our 2025 labels. Cost per serve runs from the best value pack to the single jar. Cost per 10 g of fibre is the cost per serve divided by the fibre in it, times ten.

No. Everything on this site is sold as a food.
What does CFU mean on Gut Health Plus?
Colony forming units, the standard count for Bacillus coagulans. Our label gives 1 billion CFU in a 6 g serve.
